Replace Your Missing Teeth with Dental Implants
Dental implants are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth.
The person who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything and can smile with confidence, knowing that teeth appear natural and that facial contours will be preserved.
The implants themselves are tiny titanium posts that are placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing.
The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth.
In addition,
Implants can help preserve facial structure, preventing the bone deterioration that occurs when teeth are missing.
Dental implants are changing the way people live! With them, people are rediscovering the comfort and confidence to eat, speak, laugh and enjoy life.
Ready To Reclaim Confidence In Your Smile?
Dental implants provide a stable foundation for replacement teeth that look & feel natural.

i-CAT TM 3-D Imaging
The i-CAT Cone Beam 3-D Dental Imaging System provides high-definition, in-office, three-dimensional, digital imaging of the oral and facial regions.
This system allows us to provide our patients with cutting-edge diagnostic technology at a decreased cost and reduced radiation exposure that is associated with traditional CT scans.
The fast scan time of approximately 8.9 seconds minimizes radiation exposure and reduces the likelihood of patient motion.
In addition,
The high-resolution volumetric images produced by the i-CAT provide complete 3-D views of critical anatomy for a more thorough analysis of bone structure and tooth orientation allowing precision and accuracy in dental implant planning and surgery.
Having our office equipped with this system provides Dr. Marcus and Dr. Tanna complete views of all oral and maxillofacial structures, giving them the most thorough diagnostic information possible for a variety of treatment areas, allowing for more accurate treatment planning and more predictable treatment outcomes.
We are pleased and excited to provide this service to our patients.
Dental Implant Evaluation
If like many others, you feel implant dentistry is the choice for you, we ask that you undergo a dental/radiographic examination, performed in our office including a health history.
During these consultation visits, your doctor will address your specific needs and considerations.
Your questions and concerns are important to us and our team will work with you very closely to help make your procedure a success.
We will also discuss fees and insurance at this time. There are many types of insurance plans, and coverage for implants is varied.
We will be happy to assist you in obtaining any benefits to which you may be entitled.
Dental Implant Procedure Overview
Dental implants are metal anchors that act as tooth root substitutes. They are surgically placed into the jawbone.
Small posts are attached to the implant to provide stable anchors in the gums for replacement teeth.
For most patients, the placement of dental implants involves two surgical procedures.
First, implants are placed within your jawbone. Healing time following surgery varies from person to person, based on a variety of factors that include hardness of bone.
In some cases, implants may be restored immediately after they are placed.
For the first three to six months following surgery, the implants are beneath the surface of the gums gradually bonding with the jawbone.
You should eat a soft diet during this time. At the same time, your restorative dentist designs the final bridgework or denture, which will ultimately improve both function and aesthetics.
After the implant has bonded to the jawbone, the second phase begins. Dr. Marcus or Dr. Tanna will uncover the implants and attach a small healing collar.
After which your general dentist will be able to make your new teeth. An impression must be taken. Then posts or attachments can be connected to the implants. The teeth replacements are then made over the posts or attachments. The entire procedure usually takes six to eight months. Most patients do not experience any disruption in their daily life.

How long do dental implants last?
Your dental implants should last a lifetime with proper care, including daily flossing and brushing twice a day. The crowns placed on your implants can last as long as 30 years and can easily be replaced without new implants.
What is the best age for dental implants?
Age isn’t the deciding factor for most patients. You can have dental implants as long as your jaw has stopped developing and you are no longer growing. The key is having enough healthy bone in the jaw to promote integration with the implants. Anyone can have implants, whether they are 20 or 90, as long as they are healthy and have sufficient jawbone to support them.
Are teeth implants worth it?
Only you can decide whether you want to go through the implant process. It is, admittedly, a long process and can be costly, but the results are amazing. Consider the many advantages which you can not get with any other form of dental restoration:
- Dental implants can last a lifetime
- Dental implants are fixed and permanent
- Implants preserve the strength and integrity of the jawbone
- Ability to eat what you like
- You don’t need to replace them periodically (dentures and bridges wear out and need replacing)
- Easy care – just brush and floss like natural teeth
- A beautiful, bright smile that looks like natural teeth
- No risk of cavities
- Prevent facial sagging
- Implants stabilize adjoining teeth
Is there a downside to dental implants?
Although there are many advantages to dental implants, you should also consider the commitment required for successful implants. They are more expensive upfront than dentures or bridges. However, this cost balances out in the long term because you won’t need to periodically replace them. Getting dental implants can take several months, so you must be willing to commit to the complete course of treatment to get the results you want.
Is a tooth implant painful?
The implant is placed under local anesthesia. There will be no pain, but you could feel mild pressure. Following the procedure, you may have mild discomfort and swelling, but this is easy to treat with pain medication and proper aftercare, including ice packs.
Can I have a single tooth implant?
Absolutely! A single tooth implant is a great choice when you’re missing a tooth because it stabilizes the area, prevents bone loss, and does not damage the adjacent teeth.

Dr. Marcus has done lots of major work on me over the decades: bone grafts, implants, and lots of maintenance. I had seen another periodontist who told me I would be lucky to have of my original teeth after ten years. That was forty years ago. My regular dentist tells me that the implants that are done by Dr. Marcus are as straight and well-positioned as possible. He is considerate about patient pain and discomfort. Also a heck of a nice guy. If you need a periodontist, this is the best.

If I could rate Dr. Marcus higher than a 5 I would, he is amazing. I was in to have an implant and sinus lift not too long ago. I was so nervous about the procedure, the nurses reassured me that I was in good hands and that I had nothing to worry about. They were right, it was quick and painless. Dr. Marcus was gentle and took the time to explain each step during the procedure. The entire staff at Floral Vale Periodontics were friendly and caring. I highly recommend Dr. Marcus.

Dr Marcus is extremely professional. Not only did he do an excellent job on my implant, but he was very patient in explaining each step of the procedure to me, which was almost entirely painless. He also easily engaged in conversation, combined a with a dry sense of humor, which quickly put me at ease. His staff is also first-rate; courteous and very effective. They did a fine job of making me "feel at home."

Patient Review by Franklin S. S
Over the course of the last 14 months I had a lot of Implant work done with Dr. Marcus. One visit I had 2 implants put in my lower jaw and after they healed I had 4 implants put in the upper jaw. They have all healed now and I am very pleased with the result. It was a big decision I made and I have to admit I was worried about how much pain I was getting myself in for, but I can honestly say it was not that bad. The two implant surgerys were painless. There was some soreness and a little swelling the evening of the surgery and Dr. Marcus called me at home to see how I was doing. I would highly recommend Floral Vale Periodontics and Implants.

I am so grateful to Dr. Marcus for wonderful work he did on my mouth. It was a long initial procedure, and I am a very nervous, frightened patient, but he and his staff made me quite comfortable and relaxed. I am thrilled with the result, and only wish I had met him much earlier. A special thanks to Ann, who really "mothered" me through the whole procedure. I cannot recommend Dr Marcus and his entire staff highly enough.

Patient Review by Michael M
I'm reluctant going to the dentist especially for something complex. I needed implants with bone grafting which I put off for about three years. I wish I had gone earlier and solved my dental problems sooner because the visit was painless and fairly quick. Also the followup was excellent. Dr. Marcus called to check on my condition the next day and the two later checkup visits were a breeze.
