Bucks County Mini-Residency Program

We are committed to providing the highest quality of care for our patients and it is through continuing education that we can stay on top of the latest developments. We provide a variety of educational opportunities for our referring offices through the Bucks County Mini-Residency Program.

The primary emphasis of the study group is to provide the best in continuing education in Implant and Periodontal Dentistry. The Mini-Residency Program has been a forum for the introduction of state-of-the-art techniques and important updates on current methods.

The Mini-Residency Program is an accredited continuing education program for dental professionals including dentists, dental hygienists, assistants, administrative staff, and laboratory technicians. It was founded and is directed by Dr. Edward Marcus.

The Mini-Residency Program is a study group consisting of a select group of outstanding dentists and dental specialists who join together in the pursuit of higher learning. Their goal is to keep their professional community in the forefront of dental technology while assuring their patients the most up-to-date treatment available.

In addition to education, the program focuses on building relationships with our members and their offices. These relationships improve treatment coordination between offices to make the patient education and treatment process the most effective.

The program generally consists of six sessions, beginning in October and concluding in May.

2022-2023 Program

In this our thirty first year, the program kicks off with Stephen F. Balshi, MBE presenting “Prosthetically Driven Workflow for the Full Arch Reconstruction”. Stephen, a biomedical engineer, has been in the forefront of full arch implant reconstructions as Director of Research for the Pi Dental Center since 2002. Stephen is President and CEO of CM Prosthetics, Inc., a dental laboratory facility focused on the rehabilitation of the edentulous patient utilizing CAD/CAM technology. This will be a game changer presentation. Two treatment planning sessions are scheduled which include new information from the current literature and national meetings. All members are asked to participate by reporting on an interesting article, technique, new material, or lecture they have reviewed/attended. The annual doctor-hygienist-staff meeting hosts the return of Dr. Faizan Alawi, Director of Oral Pathology Services at Penn, presenting “Oral Manifestations of Systemic Disease”, an always welcomed and needed update from this outstanding expert. For the all day meeting, Dr. Jeffrey S. Mannheimer, a PhD physical therapist, is also no stranger to our Mini-Residency and will present: “Temporomandibular Disorder Update 2023”. Jeff will include an overview of the latest Research Diagnostic Criteria for TMD’s, clinical examination methodology, and the need for comprehensive management. We end the year’s program with our traditional meeting on “Failures”, where we all learn from things that went awry and share interesting office experiences.

Please call the office for total cost or per course tuition. As always, if you have never attended one of our meetings, you are invited to attend the kickoff meeting as our guest at no charge.
