We are committed to providing the highest quality of care for our patients and it is through continuing education that we can stay on top of the latest developments. We provide a variety of educational opportunities for our referring offices through the Bucks County Mini-Residency Program. The primary emphasis of the study group is to provide the best in continuing education in Implant and Periodontal Dentistry. The Mini-Residency Program has been a forum for the introduction of state-of-the-art techniques and important updates on current methods.
The Mini-Residency Program is an accredited continuing education program for dental professionals including dentists, dental hygienists, assistants, administrative staff, and laboratory technicians. It was founded and is directed by Dr. Edward Marcus. The Mini-Residency Program is a study group consisting of a select group of outstanding dentists and dental specialists who join together in the pursuit of higher learning. Their goal is to keep their professional community in the forefront of dental technology while assuring their patients the most up-to-date treatment available.
In addition to education, the program focuses on building relationships with our members and their offices. These relationships improve treatment coordination between offices to make the patient education and treatment process the most effective.
The program generally consists of six sessions, beginning in October and concluding in May.
Highlights of Our Program for 2011-2012
In this our twentieth year, the program kicks off with Dr. Steve Jefferies presenting "Dental Cements: A Complete Update Including the Latest New Product Concepts". Steve has extensive private industry and academic experience in dental materials. He never seems to amaze me with the breadth of his knowledge. This is a topic update we all need with today's ever evolving tooth colored materials that have demanded the development of newer, higher strength cements for acceptable clinical performance. Steve will cover all cement categories including the latest advances and products. You will not want to miss this one! Two treatment planning meetings are scheduled which include new information from the current literature and national meetings. All members are asked to participate by reporting on an interesting article, technique, new material or lecture they have reviewed/attended. The annual doctor-hygienist-staff meeting "Treating the Ailing Implant" will be presented by Dr. Jonathan Korostoff, a periodontist and immunologist from Penn. Jon gave a great presentation to our group six years ago and is back for an encore. This is a long overdue presentation which will help you to identify these problems and determine the best course of therapy. Dr. Joseph Greenberg is our full day speaker who will present: "Harmonizing Dental and Facial Esthetic Relationships". Joe is a graduate of Penn's Periodontal Prosthesis Program and is a Clinical Professor at both Penn and Temple. In addition to being an excellent restorative dentist with extensive teaching and lecture experience, Joe is an excellent speaker who presents practical insight and techniques. Joe does not present esoteric unattainable cases that a practitioner spent scores of hours perfecting just for lecture purposes. Joe will cover both tooth and implant supported cases and provide "take home" techniques. The entire staff will benefit from this excellent presentation. We end the year's program with our traditional meeting on "Failures", where we all learn from things that went awry and share office experiences.
